Have you ever had a booking disaster that went GOLD?
A message in August via one of our daily emails brought to my attention a “situation” in Europe with windjammer ships. Apparently they were held in port for non-payment of various bills and I dutifully forwarded this press release to my client who had booked a windjammer cruise for some time in January 2008. Not only did we deposit $ 1,500 for three cabins, we paid upfront. the hotel stay! I was very worried when my call to the company went unanswered.
Since my client was so worried that he decided to cancel his vacation, I immediately got to work trying to save him as he and his wife, a adult son, and his wife and another son had arranged flights from Tortola to San Martino and home. What now?
Google to the rescue! I clicked on yacht charter, found there were several brokers we could consider in Tortola and emailed them immediately. As so many times (we should all be aware of this in our own business!) The first responder caught my attention that day. Lynne Campbell of Carefree Yacht Charters was supposed to be my “lifesaver”! === Lots of fun! I asked my client Steve if he would consider chartering a sailboat and he hesitated. “My wife and daughter-in-law are worried about seasickness,” he replied quickly. “Show me what they say about it.”
For his part, as Lynne worked quickly to see which yachts were available, Steve’s next email revealed that the girls were ready to “Go!” I was so excited and immediately let Lynne know the client was ready.
We discussed that a catamaran-style boat might suit this family’s needs better, but Lynne also explained that the classic sailing experience aboard a monohull might also be a good option. Not only did he discuss this with me, he was more than happy to speak directly to my client to answer questions, address any concerns, and help find the best boat and crew for that special vacation that is unfolding. a monkey . Hull in this case!
Carefree Yacht Charters takes care of EVERY detail. I can’t tell you how many great amenities these boats have, right down to the great water features. Of course, every yacht is unique, just as every crew is different. Some have only one crew member acting as captain and cook, while others have two or more.
A yacht charter usually includes ALL alcoholic beverages and meals, and the course is often set based to customer preferences! A customer preference request form will be sent to customers prior to rental to ensure that all their requests and requirements are met. The price is NOT much higher than the cost of a windjammer cruise or a large ship. In fact, this family brings six people for just over $ 10,000, plus the usual 15 percent crew tip.
I have to tell you that Lynne and her husband have owned and operated two successful charter yachts in the Virgin Islands for twelve years, so they are really well equipped to organize and book their clients’ vacations. And I can’t wait to hear the stories when my clients return from this adventure. And to think that it was all due to a possible cancellation!
